Ministries at St. Helen
Sharing time and talents with others through ministry is a large part of parish life.  If you wish further information on how to become part of these ministries, please contact the Rectory.

Adult Choir
St. Helen’s Adult Choir generally sings on Sundays from September to June at the 11:00AM Mass.  They are also present at all major liturgies throughout the liturgical year.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings.  Please contact Steven Giusto, Music Director at the Rectory for more information.

Children’s Choir
St. Helen’s Children’s Choir, for boys and girls in the 2nd thru 8th grade, sings at the 9:30AM Sunday Mass, and may join the Adult Choir at special liturgies throughout the year.  Rehearsals are held each Sunday morning in the Church Rectory after the 9:30AM Mass until 11:15AM, and on Wednesday afternoons for those students in St. Helen Catholic Academy.  Please contact Steven Giusto, Music Director at the Rectory for more information.

Altar Servers
Young people (second grade and above) serve on Sundays, on special feast days, at weddings, and at funerals.  Generally, new youth servers are trained as a group once a year.

Adults serve weekday Masses and may, at times, be asked to serve on special Feast days and at funerals.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers distribute Holy Communion both during Mass and to the homebound.  They are called “extraordinary” because they assist when there are insufficient “ordinary” ministers (bishops, priests, and deacons).  Attendance at a diocesan workshop is required to become a minister, as well as proper Sacramental proof.

Lectors
Lectors proclaim the Scriptures during Holy Mass.  This ministry requires a good speaking voice and ease in public situations.  Attendance at a diocesan workshop is required to become a lector, as well as proper Sacramental proof.

Ministers of Consolation
These ministers provide a means of outreach to a grieving family in the days immediately following the death of a loved one.  They will offer to help the family with the Funeral Liturgy planner, and will be present at the Funeral Mass to greet the family and friends and offer any assistance they may need.

Ushers and Ministers of Hospitality
Ushers direct the people to their seats, take up the collection, distribute bulletins and programs, and generally ensure the good order of the congregation.  Ministers of Hospitality extend a warm welcome to all who enter St. Helen Church for Masses and other functions.
